US Lotteries Expand Monster Gambling Jackpot Games Powerball and Mega Millions, the two biggest lottery jackpot games in the US, have reached agreement to sell each others' tickets inside what had been exclusive state divisions.

The two largest lottery games in the US, Powerball and Mega Millions, which previously have operated to mutual exclusion in their respective consortium of states, have reached agreement to sell each others' games. That means that both lottery games, often paying in the hundreds of millions already, will almost double the potential number of customers.
Mega Millions is currently operated in 12 states with a total market population of 160 million, while Powerball reaches 31 states with a customer base of 125 million. Now, each will be sold in all 43 states.
The new ticket sales will begin as soon as next year, although much negotiation on details of the agreement remain to be discussed. Revenue for each gambling game is expected to increase significantly, even with an expected amount of loss from each game to its counterpart in states carrying the first game.
State revenues should benefit from the move, as well.
"The addition of Powerball to the roster of games currently offered by the New Jersey Lottery marks a milestone not just within our State, but within the Lottery industry as a whole, and it's a milestone Lottery players in New Jersey have looked forward to for some time," said New Jersey state Treasurer R. David Rousseau.
