Emma Czornobaj, 26, made headlines when she stopped her car in the left lane of a highway south of Montreal to rescue the waterfowl. She was found guilty of two counts of criminal negligence causing death after the motorcycle of 50-year-old André Roy crashed into her at anywhere between 65 to 75 miles per hour. Roy's daughter Jessica, who was riding on the back, was also killed in the incident.

While she faced up to 14 years in jail, Crown prosecutors were only seeking a nine-month sentence, along with the 240 hours of community service, the CBC reports. The 90-day sentence was a compromise.
