Itching for WCOOP-style action in December? Apparently, 6,332 players felt the same way as Event #5 of the WCOOP Challenge Series gave the Sunday Warm-Up a nice, wintery boost. If the doubling of the guarantee to $1,000,000 did not do it, maybe the extra personalize money clip and 2014 WCOOP Main Event seat (worth $5,200.00) did. After eleven hours of play, KIngAntsi, Kovalski1, Dutchpower99, TroopTroop1, and buckguy2200 chopped up the big funds. Despite being fourth in chip during the chop, Kovalski1 would push to get heads-up for the title, but buckguy2200 would walk away as the champ claiming $170,579.50 for the win.
After the fall of Team SportStars Fatima Moreira de Melo in 171st place ($759.84) there stood only one Red Spade left in the fifth event of the WCOOP Challenge series.
A familiar face in the late stages of many tournaments live and online, Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari would sit among the chip leaders with 71 players left going into the eighth hour of the this Sunday Warm-Up special edition.
Before the ninth hourly break Akkari ran pocket eights into the queens of Kovalski1, who took down the Super Tuesday in May 2011, to knock the Brazilian pro down to under a million chips with blinds at 50K/100K ante 10K. But, the Team Pro was still alive for the near $200K first place prize along with 31 others that took a five minute break after nine hours of play.
Akkari's shortstack would not last long as the blinds moved up to 50K/100K ante 10K Andre would find T?A? in the hijack seat and shove for 638,574 chips as Dutchpower99 called the bet from the button with the dominating big slick K?A?. Both players would pair their ace on the Q? A? 3? 8? 5? board as Dutchpower99 knocked out the final the Red Spade in 25th place ($3,102.68).
The second half of the ninth hour of play was littered with knockouts as the blinds moved up to 80K/160K ante 16K, callmeicare (Canada), Luckywolk123 (Belgium), LoGiCBoOoMB (Greece), and GetItQuietly (United Kingdom) lost all their chips in 15th through 18th place respectively. d.quang received a rude sendoff shortly before the start of the tenth hour, losing the all-in bid with ace-queen versus the ace-seven of TroopTroop1 when a seven hit the flop and David "d.quang" Quang would be sent to the rail in 14th place ($5,635.48). Two minutes later after HipHaan01 was taken down in 13th place ($5,635.48), 12 players would take to the breakroom for a five-minute siesta.
Well, the tenth hour of play certainly started with a bang as TroopTroop1 thought long and hard before five bet shoving all-in for 8.77 million chips as buckguy2200 made the call with K?A?. 17.7 million chips in the pot TroopTroop1's A?Q? fell off the map when a king flopped K?6?8?. The turned Q? and rivered Q? however placed TroopTroop1 back on the right longitude as the rail could not believe what just happened.
After texaszanardi left in 11th place a potentially costly hand-for-hand period started up. Despite the over $190K difference between 10th place and first, players still kept up their aggressiveness rather than waiting for the blinds to chew up their stacks like Zlushchiy's shove from the small blind with deuce-five running into pocket nines for AL.PATSINO (who survived the all in).
Two hands later someone would not survive their all-in. Knocked down to 847,734 chips after losing to Zlushchiy preflop all-in for a 6.8 million chip pot, börny91 would shove from the cutoff as Dutchpower99 made the call holding pocket aces A?A? in the big blind. börny91's 3?A? would be sunk after the door revealed the last ace in the deck A? 8? 5? J? 2? sending the remaining nine to the final table:
Seat 1: BigBossman1 (3395554 in chips)
Seat 2: TroopTroop1 (19227696 in chips)
Seat 3: Zlushchiy (3558003 in chips)
Seat 4: KIngAntsi (3160749 in chips)
Seat 5: Dutchpower99 (12903803 in chips)
Seat 6: AL.PATSINO (7255450 in chips)
Seat 7: jasonbarton (3083713 in chips)
Seat 8: buckguy2200 (7797500 in chips)
Seat 9: Kovalski1 (2937532 in chips)
With nearly double the amount of entries into this double guaranteed Sunday Warm-Up. so came the double amount of railbirds as over a thousand curious onlookers would check out the WCOOP Event #5 Challenge Series final table.
buckguy's comeback
After taking a tumble after TroopTroop1's jaw-dropping bad beat, buckguy2200 spun up the three million chips to 11.6 million just 15 minutes later. Then with the blinds moving up to 150K/300K ante 30K buckguy2200 would call the 3.3 million chip all-in of AL.PATSINO holding pocket aces A?A?. The VIP Supernova produced a decent Q?A? but the 3? 4? 3? 2? K? only showed two clubs as AL.PATSINO took home $10,131.20 in ninth place.
Loving the river card
No denying TroopTroop1's fortune earlier but the chip leader intended to roll those found chips into a win tonight. The next hand after AL.PATSINO's departure, TroopTroop1 would min-raise from the UTG as Zlushchiy shoved for 2.22 million on the immediate left. Holding the lucky A?Q? again, TroopTroop1 made the call facing pocket kings K?K?. Once again the river delivered the blow but this time with an ace 2? T? 8? 6? A? as Zlushchiy earned $15,830.00 in eighth place.
A-Troop
Eight hands later with the blinds moving up to 200K/400K ante 40K BigBossman1 open-shoved a shortstack from the small blind holding J?Q?. Usually this would end with the blinds being shuffled off to the aggressor, but TroopTroop1 had other ideas. Holding big slick A?K? TroopTroop1 would quickly call and survived the flopped straight draw 9? T? A? 2? Q? to claim the 5.1 million chip pot as BigBossman1 was sent out of the boardroom in seventh place ($28,494.00).
Another back-to-back
Eighth and ninth place went out back-to-back so why not sixth and seventh place? Watch below for the demise of our sixth place finisher right after BigBossman1 took off in seventh place:

jasonbarton basically was all-in preflop after opening to two million as buckguy2200 called. After the 7?3?2? flop the remaining 73,313 chips went in while showing top pair 7?A?. Unfortuantely for jasonbarton, TroopTroop1 held an overpair T?T? and quickly called the small bet while watching the 9? and 2? hit the safely hit the board as jasonbarton claimed $41,158.00 in sixth place.
Weighted decisions
A rather lengthy chop discussion would break out a few hands after jasonbarton's bust out. ICM, straight chip chops, hand money over here, there and everywhere occurred because with double the normal Sunday Warm-Up stakes and $20,000.00 left aside, the players needed extra time (nearly 30 minutes) to hash out the details below:
buckguy2200 (Mexico): $150,579.50
TroopTroop1 (Germany): $115,061.15
Dutchpower99 (Netherlands): $103,072.32
Kovalski1 (Brazil): $97,515.45
KIngAntsi (Finland): $89,036.21
Better results this time
Back in October KIngAntsi would narrowly miss a shot at the Sunday Million title finishing in 15th place. Four hands after securing the chop, Dutchpower99 would min-raise from the hijack seat as Kovalski1 shoved for 7.4 million and KIngAntsi called-in for less holding pocket tens T?T?. Dutchpower99 folded as Kovalski1 showed big slick A?K? for the race. An ace in the middle of the flop 3? A? 9? 3? 4? sent KIngAntsi packing in fifth place ($89,036.21).
Marching out of here
Second in chips at the time of the chop, TroopTroop1 looked to be in-line for that extra $20,000.00, the WCOOP Main Event ticket (worth $5,200), and personalize money clip for the champ tonight. Unfortunately, after a blown bluff attempt against Kovalski1 for a 27.7 million chip pot, TroopTroop1 would be knocked down to under three million chips with blinds at 250K/500K ante 50K. On the next hand TroopTroop1 would shove from the button over a min-raise by buckguy2200 with K?T?. The chip leader would make the call with a small ace 3?A? as a pair appeared in the door A? 9? 5? T? 2? to knockout TroopTroop1 in fourth place ($115,061.15).
Out of gas
Squeezed by the much larger stacks of Kovalski1 and buckguy2200, Dutchpower99 needed a quick double up. Five hands after the demise of TroopTroop1, Dutchpower99 would shove 3.6 million over the min-raise of buckguy2200 as the chip leader made the call with 7?A?. The J?K? for Dutchpower99 never saw a glimpse of light as the 2? 4? A? 6? 4? showed an ace to take Dutchpower99 in third place ($103,072.32).
Flushed out of here
T?3?3? flop and both players like it enough to create a 41.1 million chip pot. Who would take down the money clip, 2014 WCOOP Main Event seat, and the $20K from the chop? Check out the final hand below:

buckguy2200 shoved the flush draw holding 9?J? as Kovalski1 clung to pocket queens Q?Q? to make it home safely. The 8? dashed the queen's hopes as the 9? failed to turn the advantage back as buckguy2200 took down Event #5 and $170,579.50!
