Christie Elliot’s strike 15 minutes from time was enough to give Partick a 1-0 victory and three crucial points, lifting them seven clear of the bottom of the Premiership.
In the case of Saints, who now find themselves joint bottom of the table, their boss Tommy Craig admitted that their poor home form is getting to the fans as he said: "I thought it was an ordinary game with possession 50/50. It was not a great spectacle with very few chances.
"It is easy understand the fans' anger and frustration and I share that with them and one point from six home games makes poor reading."
The Saints boss is certain they can turn it round when he gets his experienced players back as he added: "We need to get guys off the treatment table as I think we have the guys to turn it round.
"It's not great for the young players, missing that experience on the pitch, so it is up to me and all the staff to alleviate any pressure on them."
A more determined second half from Thistle saw them create more chances and grab the all-important goal and Alan Archibald was delighted just to get another three points, keep a clean sheet and put some distance between themselves and bottom spot.
"It was hard-fought and there was not a lot between us but I thought one goal would settle it. St Mirren maybe had the better of the first half but we were much better in the second half," he said.
"I told the players at half time that we needed to win the second ball and get in behind them.
"I was disappointed at losing a last-minute goal last week so it was great to keep a clean sheet this week."
