Goodwin was charged by the Scottish Football Association after he appeared to elbow Aidan Connolly in the face during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Dundee United at the weekend.

St Mirren have issued statement saying there are disappointed with Goodwin’s conduct and have also taken internal disciplinary action.

“The board met with Jim Goodwin," confirmed St Mirren. "Jim and the club have accepted the offer of a fixed penalty from the Scottish FA.

“The club are disappointed in Jim’s conduct given that this is not the first time he has been guilty of an offence of this nature. The Club have taken internal disciplinary action, which the player has accepted.

“Neither the club or the player will be making any further comment on this matter.”

Goodwin was banned for two matches last December after elbowing Tangerines midfielder Stuart Armstrong during a clash at St Mirren Park.

In December 2011, he accepted a two-match ban for throwing a punch at Motherwell's Steve Jennings during a league match at Fir Park.
